Scissor lifts in one paragraph
A scissor lift raises a platform straight up. That is all it does, and it is why it is the lowest cost way to work at height when the floor is flat and the work is directly overhead.
Every machine we stock is electric, so there is no exhaust and no fuel charge, and all 4 run on tires that will not mark a finished floor. That is what makes them the default for interior work in an occupied building.
The 2 things that decide which one you take are ceiling height and the narrowest opening on the route in. Get those 2 numbers before you book and the rest is straightforward.
3 things we will ask you for
- How high the work actually is, measured rather than estimated
- The narrowest opening anywhere on the route in, not just the entry gate
- What the ground is, whether that is finished slab, graded dirt or a slope
Send us a photo of the access route and the work area, and we will tell you straight which machine to take.

Common questions
How much does it cost to rent a scissor lift in Phoenix?
From $143/day for the 19 ft machine up to $260 for the 40 ft. Delivery is required and billed each way at the mid size tier, so a 1 day rental of the smallest machine delivered inside 20 mi comes to $333.
How high does a scissor lift actually reach?
Working height is roughly platform height plus 6 ft of operator reach. A 19 ft machine works at about 25 ft and a 40 ft machine at about 45 ft, so size off the working figure.
Can I use a scissor lift outdoors or on dirt?
Only on firm, level, paved ground with no wind. All our scissor lifts are slab machines. Dirt, gravel and grade need a rough terrain machine or a boom lift.
Do I need certification to operate a scissor lift?
Your employer must train and authorize the operator under OSHA and ANSI A92, and keep a written safe use program. Renting the machine does not certify anyone.
Can I pick a scissor lift up myself?
No. Delivery is required on every scissor lift we rent, and we handle transport both ways.
How do I charge an electric scissor lift?
Every machine has a charger on board that runs from a standard 110V outlet. A full charge takes several hours, so most crews plug in overnight.
