What it is for

Skid steers in one paragraph

A skid steer pushes, carries and loads. Which of ours you want comes down to a single question, which is whether access or volume is the binding constraint on your job.

The Bobcat S70 is the narrowest skid steer Bobcat builds and exists to get through a residential gate. Nothing else we rent will do that, and on a backyard job it is often the only option.

The John Deere 318G is more than twice the machine with a 65 in bucket. On an open lot it moves material several times faster, but it will not fit down the side of a house.

Before you book

2 things we will ask you for

  • The narrowest opening anywhere on the route in, not just the entry gate
  • What the ground is, whether that is finished slab, graded dirt or a slope

Send us a photo of the access route and the work area, and we will tell you straight which machine to take.

FAQ

Common questions

Which skid steer fits through a gate?

The Bobcat S70, which is the narrowest skid steer Bobcat builds. Measure your clear gate opening including the post and the latch, then call us with the number before booking.

Can I rent a skid steer with a trailer?

Yes. The S70 goes out with the tilt deck trailer at $272/day, $995/week or $2,650 for 4 weeks, or with the dump trailer at $295, $1,070 or $2,825. The dump trailer bundle saves $27/day over renting the 2 separately.

Will a skid steer damage my lawn?

Yes. A skid steer turns by dragging one side, which tears turf even when it is dry. Lay plywood over anything you want to keep.

Do you rent attachments?

A bucket with teeth is $20 on either machine, and a pallet fork for the 318G is $75. Tell us the job when you book and we will send the right setup.

Do I need to call 811 before using a skid steer?

If you are breaking ground at all, yes. The locate is free, it is required by Arizona law and it applies to homeowners as well as contractors.
