Telehandlers in one paragraph
A telehandler is a rough terrain forklift with a telescoping boom. That boom is the whole point, because it lets you place a load forward and up rather than only carrying it.
All our telehandlers run on diesel with rough terrain tires, so they work on a graded lot, in mud and on slope, where a warehouse forklift would be stuck at the gate.
Height is what separates them. 19 ft covers a 1-story roof, 34 ft covers 2-story framing and 42 ft is the only machine that reaches a third story or a long setback.
3 things we will ask you for
- How high and how far out the load needs to go, measured rather than estimated
- The narrowest opening anywhere on the route in, not just the entry gate
- What the ground is, whether that is finished slab, graded dirt or a slope
Send us a photo of the access route and the work area, and we will tell you straight which machine to take.

Common questions
Why does telehandler capacity drop as the boom goes up?
Because the load moves further from the machine as the boom extends and rises, which reduces what it can safely carry. The load chart mounted in the cab is the only figure that counts for a given angle and extension.
What training does a telehandler operator need?
Training on the telehandler specifically, under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.602 and ANSI B56.6. A sit down forklift card does not transfer, because the machines behave differently under load.
What is a telehandler called elsewhere?
Lull, Zoom Boom, reach forklift and variable reach truck all describe the same machine, a rough terrain forklift with a telescoping boom.
How much does it cost to rent a telehandler in Phoenix?
From $296/day for the 19 ft machine, $377 for the 34 ft and $395 for the 42 ft. All 3 deliver at the large tier, which is $125 each way inside 20 mi, and fuel is $126 prepaid.
Which telehandler size do I need?
Work from the height of the highest place you need to put material, then add a margin. 19 ft suits a 1-story job, 34 ft suits 2-story framing and 42 ft is for a third story or a long reach in.
Do telehandlers need delivery?
Yes, on all 3. They are too heavy for any rental trailer, so we haul them both ways at the large tier.
