34 ft
telehandler
rental
Gehl RS6-34. 6,000 lb to 34 ft on 4WD, with the forward reach to set block and trusses on a 2-story frame from where the machine can actually park.
Rates don't include delivery, fuel, the 15% damage waiver or tax. See your out-the-door price with a quick quote. Delivery is required and billed each way.
The 2-story machine
34 ft with reach to spare is the working range for residential and light commercial framing. Block, trusses, lumber and panels all get placed rather than just lifted.
4WD handles the mud and the grade you get on an active site, which is where a warehouse forklift stops being useful.
It is the middle machine of three and the one that goes out most. If you are unsure between the 19 and the 42, this is usually the answer.

Which term to book
At $377/day and $1,070/week, the week is the better booking from about the third day. The 4-week rate of $2,150 lands near 2 weeks at the week rate.
The 19 ft machine is only $90 less by the week, so if the job runs more than a few days the extra height is close to free.
Included with every rental
- A current annual inspection, with the operator manual riding in the machine
- A full function check before it leaves the yard, so nothing surprises you on site
- A phone number that reaches the yard directly rather than a call center
Will it fit? 4 things decide it
Measure before you bookGate and access width
7 ft 10 in across. Measure the tightest point on the route in, including gate posts.
Overhead clearance
Power lines are the risk on a framing site. Check the approach and the working position before the boom goes up.
Ground conditions
4WD on rough terrain tires handles a working site. It still needs to be level before the boom extends.
Capacity at reach
The 6,000 lb rating is close in only. At full height plan on 4,000 lb, and at full reach on 900 lb. Read the chart in the cab for the position you will actually use.
Forks are for material. If you need to lift people, that is a scissor lift or a boom lift.
Fuel and running costs
Diesel, prepaid at booking, which comes to $126 for a full tank.
It arrives fueled and ready, and there is nothing to settle up afterward.
Operator rules
A telehandler is a variable reach rough terrain truck under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.602 and ANSI B56.6. Operator training must cover this type of machine specifically.
- A sit down forklift certification does not cover a telehandler.
- Read the load chart for the boom angle and extension you are working at, not the headline capacity.
- Inspect the machine at the start of every shift.
- Nobody rides on the forks and nobody is lifted on a pallet.
- Level the machine before extending, and travel with the load low.

Common questions
How much can a 6,000 lb telehandler lift at full height?
Far less than 6,000 lb. The rating is close in and low down, and both height and forward reach cut into it. The load chart on the machine is the only answer that counts.
What gate width does a telehandler need?
More than most residential gates allow. Measure the clear opening and the approach angle and tell us the numbers when you book.
Is a telehandler the same as a Lull or a Zoom Boom?
Yes. Those are brand names that became shorthand for the same machine type, a rough terrain forklift with a telescoping boom.
Can I reach over a wall with it?
That is the main reason to take a telehandler over a forklift. Forward reach lets you place a load past an obstacle instead of driving to it.
