Why a dump trailer

Loading is easy, unloading is the problem

Anyone can fill a trailer. Emptying 7,000 lb of broken concrete or green waste by hand is what turns a 1 day job into a 2 day job.

The Lamar tips hydraulically, so the load goes where you point it in about a minute. On demolition and landscape clearance that changes the economics of the whole job.

Low profile means the deck sits lower than a standard dump trailer, so the walls are easier to load over by hand or with a wheelbarrow.

What people rent it for

Rent it for debris and loose material

  • Demolition debris and rubble
  • Green waste and tree clearance
  • Hauling in decomposed granite
  • Removing old turf and sod
  • Roofing tear off
  • Yard and lot cleanup

Rate math

Which term to book

At $125/day and $450/week, the week costs about 3.5 days. The 4-week rate of $1,125 costs the same as 9 days.

On a clearance job the real saving is labor rather than rental. One hydraulic tip replaces an afternoon of shoveling.

What you get

Included with every rental

  • A current annual inspection, with the operator manual riding in the machine
  • A full function check before it leaves the yard, so nothing surprises you on site
  • A phone number that reaches the yard directly rather than a call center

Will it fit? 4 things decide it

Measure before you book
01

Tow vehicle

Half ton or greater with a 2-5/16 in ball and a 7 pin connector. Check your rating against 2,460 lb empty plus whatever you load.

02

Payload discipline

7,540 lb sounds like a lot until you load wet soil or concrete. Fill by weight, not by volume.

03

Where you tip

You need room behind and above to raise the box. Check for power lines and low branches at the tipping spot, not just the loading one.

04

Loading height

18 in walls on a low profile deck, which is about as easy as a dump trailer gets to load by hand or barrow.

Concrete and wet soil hit the payload limit fast. A 5 ft by 10 ft box filled with broken concrete will be well over 7,540 lb long before it looks full. Load by weight.

You do not need a CDL to tow this in Arizona for ordinary use, but you do need the right hitch, working lights and a vehicle rated for the load.

Working out what will fit

The box holds just under 3 cubic yards struck level. What matters is what that material weighs, and dense material runs out of payload long before it runs out of space.

Green waste and roofing tear off usually fill the box before they reach the limit. Soil, rock and concrete do the opposite.

Towing it safely

A loaded dump trailer is heavy, and raising the box makes it unstable. Most problems happen at the tipping stage.

  • Check your tow vehicle rating against 2,460 lb empty plus the load you intend to carry.
  • Park level before you raise the box. A side slope with a raised box is how these tip over.
  • Look up before you tip. Power lines and branches are the usual hazard at the dump point.
  • Test the lights and the brakes before you leave the yard.
  • Never stand behind or under a raised box.

Delivery

Pickup or delivery

This machine is light enough to collect from the yard yourself, so delivery is optional rather than required, and you will need a vehicle and tie downs that suit the weight.

If you would rather we brought it out to you, call the yard and we will price the run to your address before you book.

Pick it up from the yard during store hours, Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., and bring it back during store hours on the return date.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I tow a dump trailer with a half ton truck?

Empty and lightly loaded, yes, with a properly rated hitch. Fully loaded at 10,000 lb gross it is beyond most half ton ratings, so check your own numbers.

How much will the Lamar low profile dump trailer hold?

Just under 3 cubic yards by volume, with 7,540 lb of payload. Dense material like concrete or wet soil reaches the weight limit well before the box is full.

Does Summit Rentals rent utility trailers or car haulers?

No. We stock this dump trailer and the tilt deck equipment trailer, and that is the whole trailer fleet.

Where can I dump the load?

That is up to you. Transfer stations and landfills across the valley take construction debris and green waste, usually by weight, and most need you to book or pay on arrival.
